1. Abate : रोक-थाम करना, रद्द करना
Meaning:- subside; decrease, lessen.
Example :- Rather than leaving immediately, they waited for the storm to abate.
2. Abridge : संक्षिप्तीकरण, काट-छाँट
Meaning:- condense or shorten.
Example:- Because the publishers felt the public wanted a shorter version of War and Peace, they proceeded to abridge the novel.
3. Abstemious : संयमी
Meaning:- sparing in eating and drinking; temperate.
Example:- Concerned whether her vegetarian son's abstemious diet provided him with sufficient protein, the worried mother pressed food on him.
4. Abstract : सार
Meaning:- theoretical; not concrete; nonrepresentational.
Example:- To him, hunger was an abstract concept; he had never missed a meal.
5. Abstruse : गूढ़
Meaning:- obscure; profound; difficult to understand.
Example:- She carries around abstruse works of philosophy, not because she understands them but because she wants her friends to think she does.
6. Accessible : पहुंच योग्य
Meaning:- easy to approach; obtainable.
Example:- We asked our guide whether the ruins were accessible on foot.
7. Acclaim :- जयकार
Meaning:- applaud; announce with great approval.
Example:- The NBC sportscasters acclaimed every American victory in the Olympics and decried every American defeat.
8. Accolade : सम्मान
Meaning:- award of merit.
Example:- In Hollywood, an "Oscar" is the highest accolade.
9. Acknowledge : स्वीकार करना
Meaning:- recognize; admit.
Example:- Although I acknowledge that the Beatles tunes sound pretty dated today, I still prefer them to the "gangsta rap" songs my brothers play.
10. Acquiesce : संतुष्ट होना
Meaning:- assent; agree without protesting.
Example:- Although she appeared to acquiesce to her employer's suggestions, I could tell she had reservations about the changes he wanted made.
